Good Food, Great Beer by Chris W. at InsiderPages
Along with the Libertine on Greenville, this place is most excellent. The location across from the main Fair Park entrance makes it feel like you walked through the looking glass. The area has the potential to be on the way up, but is still a little sketchy for those afraid of train tracks. It's a great date night place too, if you're into the shows at Fair Park since you can grab some food and beverages and walk right over. The food is good, with things like a Turkey Brie Sandwich with apples and the surprisingly refreshing smoked salmon with capers. And I hate capers! Awesome beer selection for those that wish to try out beers they may have not had before, with American microbrews and Belgians being the mainstay. Definitely a place to try if you want to get away from anything remotely pretentious.
Note: Half price food night is an awesome deal, but get there before 6pm if you can. It gets PACKED!
