Still a great place, even if you can't get 1/2 price food
Okay, seriously, not getting served half price food is not that big of a deal.
Despite the supposed "half price food conspiracy", it's a relaxed bar with an ever changing selection of great beers. I can't vouch for the food, but apparently if you want to go eat there talk with JoeRogerss, he will give you $10 not to (if your not one of his millions of contacts who knows this already).
My friend and I decided to check out Aldi a couple weeks ago.
They had a lot of snacks that you can't really mess up like rice krispie treats, nuts, and 100 calorie packs of popular snacks (those already taste bad, you can't make them taste worse). That's about all I bought, and I almost went back the other day as an excuse to load up on sugar/carbs.
I did see that it would be a great place to shop for staples, but honestly the whole "bring a quarter to use a cart" thing is lost on me. The aisles are also tiny, and checking out takes ages.
Tasty Greek will be closing for the first 3 weeks of July for "family reasons". I eat there weekly so I'm not happy about it :P
The owner is really nice and makes you feel welcomed. The bi-weekly buffet (wed/thurs) is really good - they have the gyro meat on it if that's your thing, but they also have moussaka and a lot of other tasty foods. Without drink it's $9.9x and with drink about $12. I avoid the buffet because I end up sleeping at work if I eat it.
The gyro combos are $7.95 (gyro, fries, drink) and are delicious. There is only one other place I have found that has better gyros in the metroplex and they are about $11, so Tasty Greek is a better value.
